Welcome to the

P.I.A.N.O.
Pianos Intended to Aid New Orleans

In mid-March '08, 15 more donated pianos were freighted to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), via Tipitina's Foundation, to the New Orleans area.  Along with the shipment of 10 pianos last November, the total amount of donations hauled to Gulf Coast region is 25.  The Pittsburgh Chapter (of the PTG) 'Katrina' project, led by Frank Balistreri and Randy Mangus, is the only known chapter of the PTG organization to replace this many flood-damaged pianos in New Orleans and surrounding communities.

Our PTG chapter is comprised of piano tuners/technicians from northern West Virginia, southeastern Ohio, and southwestern Pennsylvania (+ central western PA).  From September to June, guild meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month, at 7:15 PM, featuring a technical presentation by one of the members or a guest speaker.
On most occasions, an Associates Session is held at 6:30pm.  After the 7:15pm technical seminar (duration between 1 & 1.25 hrs), the chapter President leads a business conference.  Some meetings are held at Gerrero Organ Sales Outlet  (located in Robinson Twp. off of Campbells Run Rd. in Parkway West Industrial Park: Building 5).   Anyone interested in the field of piano technology is welcome to attend.

If you need your piano serviced by a tuner/technician in your area, please refer to the phone numbers
which are listed on page of PTG local members.        Newsletter: May '08        Previous Newsletters: April '08    March '08    February '08

Chapter Piano Projects
Beginning in the winter of 2002, Randy Mangus, RPT, came up with the notion of having a project piano, whereby chapter technicians collaborate on reconditioning a donated instrument.  For some more history, click here.
